Wherever JRunners were last weekend, they found success. Some were more successful than anyone else in the pack!IMG_4757 (1)

We’ll start with the Nutley Chamber of Commerce 5k, where our man Steven Lacob took the 1st place trophy – about as tall as his torso – with a 5:47 pace and a last-30-yards kick to outlast a hard-charging 15-year-old whippersnapper who got taught a lesson. Rachel Mittel took 3rd place among the women.

DanaElsewhere in New Jersey, just a bit further south, seven members of our club split up between the Olympic distance and Half options. At the Olympic, Mordechai Ovits had a run split that was 3rd overall; better than the 1st and 2nd place overall winners, and Dana Heitz took 2nd for her age group by lowering her own JRunners female record at the distance.

On Monday Morning, over in Connecticut, at 7 AM, Matt Katz – JRunners co-founder – decided to give the Oh Boy Marathon a try, and he won! The race was staged by the 50 States Marathon Club, as part of their initiative to put on convenient races in interesting places at useful times.

Matt now has run marathons in 7 states, breaking a tie with Yisroel Pupko, and climbing in to 2nd place behind Elik Hirsch’s 14.OhBoy

He ran alongside Larry Macon for much of the way (easy to do on a 1.9-mile loop). Don’t know who he is? You better.

P.S. I’m recommending this for this Sunday: http://wizathon.com/rubinrun/ It’s easily reachable for both NJ and NY folks, is very heimish, will have a carnival for kinderlach, and chiefly, because there are among our ranks at least a half dozen runners with the talent to win the race.
