JRunners Play the Kenyan Role at the Passaic Chanukah 5k

The weather was rainy, the course was sopped, and the temps were cold, but the mood was great.

64 hardy souls braved the elements at the 3rd iteration of the Passaic Chanukah 5k, staged by Jeffrey Ruttner. The awesome freebies just couldn’t be resisted.

1/10th of that crowd consisted of JRunners, and at the top of both divisions were members of our club.

Efraim Shaw, last year’s race winner, couldn’t make it due to the grand opening of his shop in Pomona (best of luck!:, so he apparently sent Steven Lacob in his place to bring home the hardware. The Master beat a 2nd-place Millenial by 1:01, making up for his generation’s loss on the last edition of Survivor.

Over in the women’s division, Rachel Mittel successfully defended her crown, eclipsing second place by 1:37. Seven more victories, and she can be mentioned in the same breath as Grete Waitz.

These are your JRunners finalists:

Steven Lacob 19:29
Moshe Pianko 22:03
Rachel Mittel 22:07
Jonathan Pittinsky 26:58
Zeilg Mandel 28:07
Adina Wiener 28:34

Thank you, Jeff, for a great race! Keep doing what you’re doing, and we’ll send more of our club your way! We like the ones we can win.
